1 If you are planning to buy a motorcycle, would you just walk into a showroom and buy it? No, right? Similarly, when hiring a personal trainer, you need to research. Research a lot because it might happen that the most experienced trainer in your locality won't be a perfect trainer for your needs.

Things you should consider before hiring a personal trainer in NYC:

  1. Outline Your Goals:

Your reason for hiring a personal trainer matters the most because, for a specific need, your trainer has to be certified. For example,

Do Do you want to get fit? Do you want to be a Model or an actor? An experienced personal trainer will be fine

Are you planning to run a marathon? A trainer who is certified for offering marathon training must be preferred.

Think before you hire!

2. Amount You Want To Spend On Personal Trainer:

If you are willing to spend higher on your training, you can opt for a properly certified and experienced trainers. But if you are spending a lesser amount, then you might have to compromise with the expertise or qualification. I would suggest compromising on experience would be a better option because at least your trainer with have the essential knowledge to guide you towards your fitness goal.

I would also advise you to leave your wallet at home while going for an inquiry. This will prevent you from getting influenced by him/her and immediate hiring.

3. Trainer’s Qualification:

You are hiring someone as your trainer for a knowledge you don't have. So, it's your responsibility to make sure he has proper certification from a well know sports training academy and not from some random universities. So do check his/her certification and knowledge on the fitness area you are planning to work on.

There might be a case where the trainer himself got his knowledge by watching YouTube videos. If this is the case, spending your money on him is a waste. Be careful and check the certification.

4. Reputation:

If you are going for a reputed trainer, your budget will go up. If you are willing to spend more, this is not an issue. But, I would like to warn you here. Chances are that even reputed trainers are not good training. It might be a case that they were at the right place at the right time, which increased his/her client base.

Try talking to people who have already hired this personal trainer. Nothing can work better than word of mouth.

5. Focus More on What He/She is asking you:

In a rush of asking too many questions, don't forget to focus on what are they saying? For instance, if you mentioned you have some pain issues or medical deficiency, and instead of asking more about your issues, he is focusing on boosting about his experiences, be a skeptic.

If you are looking for best personal trainers in NYC, along with the above mentioned consideration you will also have to check their way of training. If you are someone who believes in quality training and your trainer is someone who keeping yelling on you for increasing the number of reps per exercise then it won't work. I hope this was helpful.
