When paying with a credit card, you must write the tip amount on the receipt and sign it to for the total (tip plus bill) to be charged to your card. Credit card tips are processed and given to the service provider later than cash tips. Because of this, leaving cash tips is sometimes preferable even though using a credit card to leave tips is still a practical option.
